The United Federation of Teachers has spent $110,000 to charter buses and an Amtrak train — five cars, non-stop — to ferry members to a rally coinciding with the opening of the national memorial to the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. The disclosure appeared on the organization’s July-August lobbying report. The initial rally was scheduled for Aug. 29, but was postponed until October 15 due to the impacts of Hurricane Irene.
