Federal court upholds South Carolina Voter ID law

A U.S. District Court in Washington D.C. on Wednesday upheld a South Carolina law that requires all voters to show a photo identification when they cast their ballots. The law will not take effect until the 2013 election cycle, meaning even those without a state-issued photo ID can still vote in next month’s race. The Republican-controlled General Assembly passed the law last year. However, the U.S. Justice Department blocked it from taking effect, arguing that it would disproportionately affect minority voters. The first presidential tracking poll with likely voters (LV) following the Supreme Court Decision shows show Mitt Romney with a slight lead over President Obama.  This poll also has four percent going to a third party candidate with five percent undecided . Rasmussen continues to be the most accurate Presidential tracking poll based on final results of the last two elections. The Real Clear Politics Average has President Obama leading by 3.4% which is in the Margin of error of most polls listed. Federal judge rejects Obama suit to stop voter purge in Florida

Great news for those who desire fair and honest elections: the Orlando Sentinel reports that U.S. District Judge Robert Hinkle has “rejected a request from the Obama Administration to put an immediate stop to non-citizen voter purge program.” The program in question involved 2600 challenge letters sent out to suspected illegitimate voters, whose registration information did not match up with other databases available to the state.  Over 100 illegitimate voters have already been discovered, with at least 50 of them having committed the felony offense of voting illegally in previous elections. via Federal judge rejects Justice Department challenge to Florida voter purge | Conservative News, Views & Books.
