Echoes of CPAC – A Politisite Interview with Ken Blackwell

Echoes of CPAC – A Politisite Interview with Ken Blackwell

Now that the 2013 Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) is almost a month past, this might be a good time for Politisite readers to hear some of the more personal perspectives that were offered by some prominent CPAC attendees.  Over the next week or so, I’ll post some of the interviews that were conducted at CPAC over March 14th-16th. Our second Politisite – ”Echoes of CPAC” interview will be with Ken Blackwell, former Ohio Secretary of State and now a Senior Fellow at the Family Research Council.  NOTE:  This interview was conducted just a few days before the Republican National Committee released its "Growth & Opportunity Report."  By Kevin Williams KW:  As far as where we are going from the 2012 Elections, as far as diversity within in the [...]

Kerry's itinerary, announced Tuesday for his Feb. 24-March 6 trip, includes Britain, Germany, France, Italy, Turkey, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Qatar. The New White House Whopperist

The New White House Whopperist

by Joe Keck A while back, UN Ambassador Susan Rice withdrew her name for Secretary of State in the Obama administration. Who then is going to be our next State deceptionist? Someone has to protect us from that oh so dangerous thing, The Truth. And since Ms. Rice wasn’t' very skillful with, shall we say the art of, 'Accuracy adjustment,' John Kerry clearly would be a better fit for the job. In defense of the senator's shell-shuffling abilities, may I recall his dour-faced declaration in the Congressional Record of March 27th, 1986 (S3594)? ". . . I remember Christmas of 1968, sitting on a gunboat in Cambodia. I remember what it was like to be shot at by the Vietnamese, Khmer Rouge and Cambodians, and I heard the President of the United States telling the American people I [...]

President Obama’s Remarks on Nomination of John Kerry for Secretary of State

THE WHITE HOUSE Office of the Press Secretary For Immediate Release                           December 21, 2012 President Obama's Remarks on Nomination of John Kerry for Secretary of State  Roosevelt Room      THE PRESIDENT:  Good afternoon, everyone.  When I took office, our nation was engaged in two wars, and al Qaeda was entrenched in their safe havens.  Many of our alliances were frayed, and America’s standing in the world had suffered. Over the past four years, we’ve begun a new era of American leadership.  We ended the war in Iraq, put the al Qaeda core on the path to defeat, and we’re winding down the war in Afghanistan.  We’ve strengthened our alliances, including in Asia; forged new coalitions to meet global challenges; [...]

Done Deal: Obama to Nominate Kerry for Secretary of State

Done Deal: Obama to Nominate Kerry for Secretary of State

Obama to Nominate Senator John Kerry for Secretary of State.... President Obama is expected to formally nominate Sen. John Kerry as the next Secretary of State, according to a source familiar with the process. “It’s now basically a done deal,” said the source.  The source said now that US ambassador to the UN has bowed out, Kerry will be named to the post shortly, possibly within days. But the timetable is not precise because the President would like to unveil a slate of national security nominees and right now not all of the picks are finalized.  A second source familiar with the process noted the President is also not going to imminently announce a new foreign policy team just as the nation is grieving over the tragedy in Connecticut. McCain joins Foreign Relations Committee ahead of Sec State Hearings

McCain joins Foreign Relations Committee ahead of Sec State Hearings

The committee that will soon vet the next secretary of state will have a new Republican heavyweight next year: Sen. John McCain (R-AZ), the man leading the charge against potential nominee U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice. McCain told The Cable he will join the Senate Foreign Relations Committee (SFRC) and also remain on the Senate Armed Services Committee (SASC) in an interview on the sidelines of the 2012 IISS Manama Security Dialogue. McCain, who finishes his six-year term as ranking Republican on the SASC this year, will not challenge Sen. Bob Corker (R-TN) for the leadership post on the SFRC, but his presence will be felt, especially during the confirmation hearings, which could be especially contentious this time around if Rice is chosen as the nominee. Those nomination hearings [...]

ROBERT REICH: Get Ready For A Obama-Clinton Presidential Ticket

ROBERT REICH: Get Ready For A Obama-Clinton Presidential Ticket

Obama dumping Biden would be the most important decision of the 2012 election.  We think that if Obama shuffles Biden to Secretary of State (God help us) or out of the cabinet all together, it would seal 2012 for Obama and the Democratic Party My political prediction for 2012 (based on absolutely no inside information): Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden swap places. Biden becomes Secretary of State — a position he’s apparently coveted for years. And Hillary Clinton, Vice President. So the Democratic ticket for 2012 is Obama-Clinton. Why do I say this? Because Obama needs to stir the passions and enthusiasms of a Democratic base that’s been disillusioned with his cave-ins to regressive Republicans. Hillary Clinton on the ticket can do that.
