The Des Moines Register endorses Romney, First Republican since 1972
The Des Moines Register endorses Mitt Romney, First Republican endorsement since 1972 The Register endorsement: Mitt Romney offers a fresh economic vision | The Des Moines Register Ten months ago this newspaper endorsed former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney for the Republican nomination for president. An overarching consideration was which of the party’s candidates could we see occupying the White House, and there was no question that Romney was qualified for the job. Now, in the closing days of the general election campaign, the question is which of the two contenders deserves to be the next president of the United States. Both President Barack Obama and Governor Romney are superbly qualified. Both are graduates of the Harvard University Law School who have distinguished [...]
Obama’s Presidency sleeps with the fishes
By Joe Keck Moe Green says that the Corleones don't even have that kind of muscle no more and Sollozzo has Tommy in the tunnel. But I think a new Don is coming. Yes, the two big dogs went head to head this past Monday, vying for the role of leader of the free world and in a couple of weeks we'll find out who will be head of the Five Families. And although it wasn't anything spectacular, it did garner the highest rating of any televised event in history. Seems odd, though, doesn't it? What would make this debate so 'gravitational' to American viewers? Mitt Romney isn't particularly charismatic or alluring as a candidate. And unless he's reading from a teleprompter, neither is Barack Obama. In 2008, Obama captivated the political scene, and obviously, the [...]
Military Times Poll: Romney beats Obama by a 2-1 margin
The professional core of the U.S. military overwhelmingly favors Mitt Romney over President Obama in the upcoming election — but not because of any particular military issues, according to a new poll of more than 3,100 active and reserve troops. Respondents rated the economy and the candidates’ character as their most important considerations and all but ignored the war in Afghanistan as an issue of concern. The Military Times Poll is a secure email survey of active-duty, National Guard and reserve members who are subscribers to the Military Times newspapers (see How We Did It, below). This population is older and more senior than the military population at large, but it is representative of the professional core of the all-volunteer force. The 3,100 respondents — [...]
While Obama touts GM Bailout at debates, China CEO elated 7 of 10 GM cars are built outside US
While Obama is out on the campaign trial (and at the Presidential Debates), he has called Romney the "Outsourcer in Chief" and the "Pioneer of Outsourcing". But if Romney pioneered outsourcing, it appears that Obama has perfected it. Obama is out touting the General Motors bailout and that it is good for American jobs. He coupled that he saved 1 million jobs by doing so while Romney would have allowed GM to go in to Bankruptcy. By doing so he alluded that if GM went into bankruptcy under Romney's plan that 1 million people would be unemployed. How many major companies go into bankruptcy protection and continue operations while keeping their creditors at bay while they restructure? What is worse, is Obama touts that General Motors is a model he wants to continue. Interestingly, [...]
Polling Report: October 23, 2012
by Bob Grundfest The debates are done, the swing states remain swingy, and the money is flowing. Must be the last two weeks of the campaign. And true to the divided nature of the country, there are two narratives for the final push. The first says that Mitt Romney has the momentum because of his first debate performance and the new perception, pushed very hard by his campaign, that Romney is really a moderate, not the scary conservative that Obama said he was in the summer. In many ways, Mitt has won his argument because, depending upon the poll, he has become more likable and he's improved his standing with women. Romney's national poll numbers are up and he's made inroads into states that were solidly behind the president, such as Florida and North Carolina. The second says [...]

Romney’s Brilliant Debate Strategy may have scored a Knockout
Gov. Mitt Romney today pulled a bold move in the final debate with President Obama, opting for relatively limited verbal combat with his opponent while instead showcasing his knowledge of foreign affairs, adopting a presidential demeanor, and offering a sense of optimism for the future. This strategy was the political equivalent of the Muhammed Ali Rope-a-Dope against George Foreman in the heavyweight boxing championship in 1974. Everyone expected a war, but Ali laid back on the ropes and let his bigger, stronger opponent pound away until Foreman was exhausted, and Ali knocked him out. And I think Romney may have scored a knockout too. Read more at Romney’s Brilliant Maneuver | The Blog on Obama: White House Dossier.

Is Obama’s ‘October Surprise’ All Red and about Abortion, Mormonism?
With President Obama and Governor Mitt Romney neck and neck, speculation has raged that people close to the president’s campaign will trot out some sort of “October surprise” to try to drag Romney down in the polls. Now, with President Obama’s debuting a new phrase on the campaign trail – “Romnesia” – some conservatives think they’ve worked out what that surprise might be. The problem? It’s not a surprise. It’s a year old story. Gateway Pundit explains: Allred has a reputation of dragging perceived female victims in front of the camera as props to bash Republican candidates. In October 2010 Allred dragged out illegal alien Nicki Diaz to attack heartless Meg Whitman. Minaj was upset Whitman didn’t buy her child a present and claimed Meg took advantage of [...]
Lee Iacocca endorses Romney
But ‘Osama bin Laden is dead and General Motors is alive’ After a lifetime of voting for and supporting Democrats — and even declining appointment to the U.S. Senate from a Democratic governor — Lee Iacocca Thursday endorsed Republican Mitt Romney for president. The blessings of the onetime Chrysler chairman are expected to help Romney in two highly competitive states: Pennsylvania, where the 88-year-old Iacocca was born and raised and is still widely respected, and in Michigan, where Iacocca rose to become a major figure in the auto industry and won international praise for cobbling together the government-backed loans that saved Chrysler in 1980. via Lee Iacocca endorses Romney for president So what is the reason that the former Chrysler CEO Iacocca endorsed Romney and [...]
