CARNEY:  Good Friday afternoon, ladies and gentlemen.  Thank you for being here.  I appreciate your patience.  Before I take your questions, I just wanted to note, because it’s been reported, we did, as many of you know, have a background briefing here at the White House earlier.  I think 14 news organizations were represented, ranging from online to broadcast TV, print and the like.  And we do those periodically.  We hope that participants find them helpful.  I will say that no one here believes that briefings like that are substitute for this briefing, which is why I’m here today to take questions on whatever issues you want to ask me about.      And with that, I will go to the [...]

MSM: Being Gay more important than Benghazi

MSM: Being Gay more important than Benghazi

by Joe Keck Diane Sawyer of ABC hit the airways running with the news that Jason Collins, pro basketball star, is gay. It was her first mention among reporting on the Boston bombing and other newsworthy items. George Stephanopoulos, also of ABC, had a long interview with Collins about his homosexuality as well, a segment with the NBA player lasting more than five minutes. That's long interview in news time. USA Today, The Washington Post, The NY Times, The Huffington Post, just about every news outlet in the known universe thinks that someone making an admission that goes against the grain of what we would expect is big news. And I suppose it is a bit shocking that an Athlete on a major American sports team is gay, so, of course the Mainstream Media would cover it. Kind of like [...]

Let us not forget to hold the President and the White House accountable for the atrocities at Benghazi! By Doc Vega Just when you thought that the Benghazi scandal couldn't get any worse and America couldn't turn a blinder eye to treason, now this! In the midst of the smoldering tragedy and allegations of intentionally allowing US diplomatic federal employees to be killed, a new piece of evidence has emerged. With little if any coverage by the US mainstream media, it has been revealed that the Obama administration has ordered several surviving members of the Benghazi ambassadorial team, some of whom are still under hospitalization, to maintain silence over the incident! In other words, they’ve been threatened not to disclose any details of their saga to the public! Evidence more [...]

Obama News Conference: GOP “Gun at the Head of the American people”

Obama News Conference: GOP “Gun at the Head of the American people”

THE PRESIDENT:  Please have a seat, everybody.  Good morning.  I thought it might make sense to take some questions this week, as my first term comes to an end. It’s been a busy and productive four years.  And I expect the same for the next four years.  I intend to carry out the agenda that I campaigned on -- an agenda for new jobs, new opportunity, and new security for the middle class.   President Obama alludes that Republicans are terrorists, "I will not do is to have that negotiation with a gun at the head of the American people " Right now, our economy is growing, and our businesses are creating new jobs, so we are poised for a good year if we make smart decisions and sound investments -- and as long as Washington politics don’t get in the way of America’s [...]

Obama Demands Action on Fiscal Cliff then Heads to Hawaiian Vacay

STATEMENT BY THE PRESIDENT Obama Statement on Fiscal Cliff Before his Hawaiian Vacation Departure      THE PRESIDENT:  Good afternoon, everybody.  Over the last few weeks I've been working with leaders of both parties on a proposal to get our deficit under control, avoid tax cuts -- or avoid tax hikes on the middle class, and to make sure that we can spur jobs and economic growth -- a balanced proposal that cuts spending but also asks the wealthiest Americans to pay more; a proposal that will strengthen the middle class over the long haul and grow our economy over the long haul. During the course of these negotiations, I offered to compromise with Republicans in Congress.  I met them halfway on taxes, and I met them more than halfway on spending.  And in terms of actual [...]

Trust the White House? Obama Admin leaks Private call with Republicans

Trust the White House? Obama Admin leaks Private call with Republicans

So one wonders what ever gave the Congressional Republicans the Idea that by passing middle class tax cuts that the White House and Democrats would approve spending cuts at a later date when they can't even have a private call with Obama without it being leaked to the press. Speaker John A. Boehner of Ohio and Republican leaders are fuming after a late night phone call with President Barack Obama was leaked to the press, despite an agreement that it would not be, according to several GOP aides. The administration’s leak of the 30-minute Wednesday night phone call to Politico is causing House leaders to question whether they can trust the White House to keep details private, a sentiment that has caused progress in the negotiations over the “fiscal cliff” to stall. The leak [...]
