Press Gaggle by Principal Deputy Press Secretary Josh Earnest aboard Air Force One en route Cleveland, OH, 10/05/12
PRESS GAGGLE BY PRINCIPAL DEPUTY PRESS SECRETARY JOSH EARNEST Aboard Air Force One En Route Cleveland, Ohio 12:50 P.M. EDT MR. EARNEST: I don't think either Jen or I have anything to start, so we'll just take a few questions. Q The President today sort of seemed like he was running through a litany of things that he could have or would have said at the debate. Was there any sort of reset in the campaign as far as the President either taking responsibility for his debate performance or coming out with a -- promising a more aggressive tone starting today? MS. PSAKI: Well, as we learned on Wednesday night, Mitt Romney is willing to say and do anything to become President, and we've certainly taken that into account over the last [...]

Star Parker: Booker Exposes Obama’s Misguided Message
By Star Parker Decades ago, Winston Churchill observed that "the inherent vice of capitalism is the unequal sharing of blessings; the inherent virtue of socialism is the equal sharing of miseries." His words apply well to the choice in the 2012 presidential election. Note, for example, how the young black Democratic mayor of Newark, N.J., Cory Booker, was strongly repudiated by the Obama campaign, including the president himself, when he insolently suggested that Bain Capital, the investment firm once headed by Mitt Romney, might actually do positive things. Booker, an Obama campaign surrogate, went off script on "Meet the Press" when he refused to justify a campaign attack ad depicting the evils of Bain. "I'm not about to sit here and indict private equity. ... Especially that I [...]

Fact Check -the growth of spending under Obama – Three Pinocchios
"Federal spending since I took office has risen at the slowest pace of any president in almost 60 years" President Obama The Facts First of all, there are a few methodological problems with Nutting’s analysis — especially the beginning and the end point. Nutting basically takes much of 2009 out of Obama’s column, saying it was the “the last of George W. Bush’s presidency.” Of course, with the recession crashing down, that’s when federal spending ramped up. The federal fiscal year starts on Oct. 1, so the 2009 fiscal year accounts for about four months of Bush’s presidency and eight of Obama’s. In theory, one could claim that the budget was already locked in when Obama took office, but that’s not really the case. Most of the appropriations bills had not [...]
Rachel Maddow fabricates Romney statements
Leave it to MSNBC to put words in a Republicans mouth. Especially, Rachel Maddow who is so militant and snarky toward the Republican party she doesn't seem to know the truth. Seems to us that she is using, as usual, talking points that come straight from the White House. This time she twist them to pander to her left-wing audience. Visit msnbc.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy Last night, MSNBC's Rachel Maddow attributed statements to Mitt Romney that he did not make. In a segment pegged, ironically, to White House criticism of the Washington press corps, Maddow attempted to rise to the White House's challenge by calling out Romney for holding President Obama to a higher standard on the unemployment rate than he did himself. Maddow first ran [...]

Bad news for Obama – The Cook Report
By Charlie Cook Regular readers of this column know that in analyzing the 2012 presidential race, I have been preoccupied—some would say obsessed—with the state and direction of the U.S. economy. Presidential elections have many moving parts and can turn on many things, but rarely is a single factor more important than the economy when an incumbent is up for reelection. The latest NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll, conducted among 1,000 adults from April 13-17, supports that view. Overall, 49 percent said they approve of the job that President Obama is doing, and 46 percent said they disapprove. The poll, conducted by Democrat Peter Hart and Republican Bill McInturff, pegs Obama’s approval rating just 1 point higher than the current averages by RealClearPolitics and Huffpost’s [...]
