Obama Statement on NSA Spying – Trust Us
"if people can't trust not only the executive branch but also don't trust Congress and don't trust federal judges to make sure that we’re abiding by the Constitution, due process and rule of law, then we’re going to have some problems here." Obama Statement on NSA Spying on the American People THE PRESIDENT: Good morning, everybody. It is wonderful to see all of you, and I want to thank everybody who is here. I think there's only one problem, and that is that my remarks are not sitting here. People! (Laughter.) By Friday afternoon, things get a little challenged. Q Will you answer a question in the -- THE PRESIDENT: I'm going to have a -- I'm going to answer a question at the end of the remarks, but I want to make sure that we get the remarks out. [...]
Obama Flashback: No more spying on Americans – Video
Obama in 2007: No more spying on citizens who are not suspected of a crime This Administration also puts forward a false choice between the liberties we cherish and the security we demand. I will provide our intelligence and law enforcement agencies with the tools they need to track and take out the terrorists without undermining our Constitution and our freedom. That means no more illegal wire-tapping of American citizens. No more national security letters to spy on citizens who are not suspected of a crime. No more tracking citizens who do nothing more than protest a misguided war. No more ignoring the law when it is inconvenient. That is not who we are. And it is not what is necessary to defeat the terrorists. The FISA court works. The separation of powers works. Our [...]
Obama – Not listening to your telephone calls – Just datamining
President Obama denied that the NSA or any other agency of the Government is listening in on American citizens phone calls. But as is Obama's style, he is answering a question not asked. The report was that the United States Government is collecting data on every American. Obama wanted to make sure that everyone knew that "every member of Congress has been briefed." I guess we can name Congress as co-conspirators of violations of the 4th amendment. Obama Administration has Big Ears President Obama on Friday offered a robust defense of the government surveillance programs revealed this week, and sought to reassure the public that his administration has not become a Big Brother with eyes and ears throughout the world of online communications. “Nobody is listening to your [...]
Orwell Or Obama – Take the Quiz
The Guardian revealed Wednesday that the NSA has been collecting Verizon customers’ phone records. George Orwell’s 1984 was published 64 years ago this week. BuzzFeed put together a quiz about Big Brother and 1984 asking you to decide if the statement is Orwell or Obama Take the Quiz Orwell Or Obama.
Flashback: Obama’s Website – Democrats Assail Wiretaps
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Sen. Dick Durbin and other Illinois Democrats on Monday sharply criticized President Bush's decision to allow domestic eavesdropping without court approval, while Rep. Ray LaHood defended the president's actions. "There is no legal authority for the president to do this. The law is very clear. If you want to wiretap or eavesdrop on an American citizen, there are only two ways to do it and both involve court orders. "The president is assuming more powers than he has been given and that is a very dangerous thing for this country," said Durbin, the second-highest Democrat in the Senate. Bush acknowledged Saturday that he authorized the National Security Agency to eavesdrop on international phone calls and e-mails of people [...]
Great Party, huh?
by Joe Keck With the Obama Administration and its Liberal cohorts in power, the chances of the Republican Party getting us back to a truly "Free" nation is nil. It's not Barack Obama, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and the like, that is exclusively responsible for the erosion of our – as the Founders wrote – "God given rights". It is also, and maybe more heinous in nature, the Republicans who are at fault for the semi-socialist system we have been forced to live under these last several decades. Not too long ago George W. Bush had both houses, Senate and Congress, with a Republican majority. And of course, abortion was outlawed, government was chopped down to a bare minimum, and taxes were reduced to almost nothing. No. Pretty much, our gargantuan out-of-control Washington [...]
It begins: Major demand to impeach Obama
Watergate investigator Bob Woodward of the Washington Post compares Barack Obama to Richard Nixon. Members of Congress say it’s about time to consider it. Rock legend Ted Nugent says Obama’s constitutional violations make him eligible. And even Code Pink co-founder Medea Benjamin has called for Obama’s impeachment. peachThe document is addressed to members of Congress, who have the responsibility to make sure government officials don’t go outside the bounds of the U.S. Constitution and to bring appropriate retribution when they do. The petition cites a number of scandals in just the last few weeks and months. Among them are the “lethal and prolonged terrorist attack in Benghazi, Libya, and the subsequent ‘Watergate-era cover-up.’” And then there’s the big – [...]
Defiant Obama to appoint Susan Rice as National Security Adviser
Tom Donilon, Obama's national security adviser has resigned. President Obama continues his 'in your face' style of politics by replacing Donilon with United Nations Ambassador Susan Rice to the position. The appointment, which Mr. Obama plans to make on Wednesday afternoon, puts Ms. Rice, 48, an outspoken diplomat and a close political ally, at the heart of the administration’s foreign-policy apparatus. It is also a defiant gesture to Republicans who harshly criticized Ms. Rice for presenting an erroneous account of the deadly attacks on the American mission in Benghazi, Libya. The post of national security adviser, while powerful, does not require Senate confirmation. Via - NYTimes.com.
FLOTUS freaks out at fundraiser, White House sanitizes transcript
Obama threatens to leave fundraiser after a lesbian protester heckles her speech, and the White House sanitizes transcript First lady Michelle Obama's speech at a Washington D.C. political fundraiser was interrupted by a lesbian protester on Tuesday night, and she threatened to leave the event if the gay rights activist wasn't forced to leave. But the official White House transcript doesn't indicate anything about the heckler or Mrs Obama's audible reaction via Mail Online. But even though the first ladies remarks were widely reported by the White House Press Corps, the White House sanitized the protesters remarks and deleted Obama's response. Seems the Obama White House is far from open and transparent, in that, it deleted comments that could reflect negatively on the First [...]
Transparent, Open Government? Obama Admin. use Secret email accounts
Some of US President Barack Obama's high-ranked political appointees are using secret government email accounts, which they say are necessary to prevent their inboxes from being overwhelmed with unwanted messages and spam. The scale of secret email use across the government remains unknown, as most US agencies have failed to provide lists of political appointees' email addresses, which AP requested under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) over three months ago. The news agency asked for the addresses after it was revealed last year that a former administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency had used separate email accounts during her work, including a secret one under the name ‘Richard Windsor.’ The secret accounts raise suspicions that government officials are [...]
