Over 75% want Congress to continue IRS, DOJ, Benghazi investigations
More than three-quarters of voters (78 percent) want Congress to continue to investigate the IRS. That’s a bit higher than the number that thinks Congress should continue to investigate the Justice Department seizing journalists’ records (76 percent) and the Obama administration handling of the attacks in Benghazi (73 percent). Supreme Court Says Human Gene Cannot Be Patented
The U.S. Supreme Court on Thursday ruled partially for Myriad Genetics Inc on the closely watched issue of whether human genes can be patented, deciding synthetically produced genetic material can be patented but naturally occurring DNA cannot. The nine justices ruled unanimously in the case. The biotechnology industry had warned that an expansive ruling against Myriad could threaten billions of dollars of investment. The court said synthetically produced genetic material can be patented but that genes extracted from the human body, known as isolated DNA, do not merit the same legal protections. Some of US President Barack Obama's high-ranked political appointees are using secret government email accounts, which they say are necessary to prevent their inboxes from being overwhelmed with unwanted messages and spam. The scale of secret email use across the government remains unknown, as most US agencies have failed to provide lists of political appointees' email addresses, which AP requested under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) over three months ago.
