DNC Event: Wall Street Fat Cats invited to White House for Obama Access

DNC Event: Wall Street Fat Cats invited to White House for Obama Access

While publicly Obama makes Wall Street executives out to be the enemy.  In private, well tat is a different story, he has the DNC plan and event at the White House for a couple o Dozen Wall Street executives to have a chat session with Obama.  While this event occurred before Obama announced his plans for re-election, he knows he needs nearly 750 million dollars to mount a run in 2012. The only thing that didn't happen at this meeting was they didn't pass the collection plate: The most open and honest administration in history. Remember those words? We heard about transparency, ethics, and a host of other terms used by Barack Obama to paint a picture that his administration was better than the rest. Funny how things change. From closed door meetings on health care, we now get [...]

Why Don’t We Hear About Soros’ Ties to Over 30 Major News Organizations?

Why Don’t We Hear About Soros’ Ties to Over 30 Major News Organizations?

Probably because George Soros is Tied to over Thirty News Organizations This from Dan Gainor When liberal investor George Soros gave $1.8 million to National Public Radio , it became part of the firestorm of controversy that jeopardized NPR’s federal funding. But that gift only hints at the widespread influence the controversial billionaire has on the mainstream media. Soros, who spent $27 million trying to defeat President Bush in 2004, has ties to more than 30 mainstream news outlets – including The New York Times, Washington Post, the Associated Press, NBC and ABC. Prominent journalists like ABC’s Christiane Amanpour and former Washington Post editor and now Vice President Len Downie serve on boards of operations that take Soros cash. This despite the Society of [...]

Sen. Rand Paul to Trump: Prove you’re a Republican

Senator Rand Paul was at a breakfast with New Hampshire Republicans to discuss a variety of topics dealing with the Republican party and economic issues. The topic of conversation that was brought up, is of Donald Trump’s possible candidacy. Paul response was witty. He demanded to see Donald Trump’s “Republican registration.” Via The Hill: “I’ve come to New Hampshire today because I’m very concerned,” said Paul, according to The New York Times. “I want to see the original long-form certificate of Donald Trump’s Republican registration.” If you recall, Trump said at CPAC that Rand Paul’s father, Rep. Ron Paul has no chance of being re-elected, to which Rand Paul replied, that Trump’s chances are less than his father’s. via » Sen. Rand Paul to Trump: [...]

For Obama, WikiLeaks GITMO files come at really bad time

For Obama, WikiLeaks GITMO files come at really bad time

Now that the Obama administration has abandoned the idea of civilian-court trials for detainees, it wants to promote confidence in the military tribunal system at Guantánamo. But new WikiLeaks documents paint a picture of 'questionable' charges. The public release of more than 700 secret documents related to detainees at Guantánamo by WikiLeaks is complicating Obama administration plans to shore up the international image of the detention camp and eventually conduct military commission trials there. The newly disclosed documents are raising fresh questions about the reliability of US government evidence against the detainees at precisely the time White House and Defense Department officials are trying to build international confidence in the largely untested military [...]

Doing the math: President Obama’s plan to tax the rich will hardly make a dent in the deficit

Doing the math: President Obama’s plan to tax the rich will hardly make a dent in the deficit

The President will give a speech tonight on how he plans to solve America's deficit problem by taxing the rich. From a distributional point of view, I have nothing against taxing the rich. Further, while it true fact that taxes tend to shrink the tax base (the only question is how much), let's ignore the Laffer-curve controversy. Let us instead accept the left's own calculations about tax revenue. The centerpiece of President Obama's plan is to raise taxes on the rich (households making $250.000 or more). There is no doubt that the rich have become richer over the last few decades, and hence could afford this tax increase. If taxing them would solve the deficit crisis, I would support it in a heartbeat. The only problem with this "solution" is that it is dishonest. President [...]

Trump’s Rise Highlights a Flawed GOP Field- Does Obama make a Field?

Trump’s Rise Highlights a Flawed GOP Field- Does Obama make a Field?

The only thing I can say about this article by a pollster that I respect is that if Obama is the Democratic Field, in my best playground speak, his flaws are  are bigger than our flaws.   Now on to the New York Time article by FiveThirtyEight Nate Silver: When thinking about the candidates for the 2012 Republican nomination, we can divide them into basically three groups. First are candidates in a group I’d call the “Fairfax Five,” Fairfax being the name of a wealthy Washington suburb in Northern Virginia. These are the candidates who have the seal of approval of the Republican establishment thinkers in Washington. More specifically, they’re the candidates endorsed by George F. Will in his March 5 column: There are at most five plausible Republican presidents on the [...]

No Boots on the Ground? U.S. Special Forces wear sneakers? Libyan rebels receive military training

No Boots on the Ground? U.S. Special Forces wear sneakers? Libyan rebels receive military training

US and Egyptian special forces have reportedly been providing covert training to rebel fighters in the battle for Libya, Al Jazeera has been told. An unnamed rebel source related how he had undergone training in military techniques at a "secret facility" in eastern Libya. He told our correspondent Laurence Lee, reporting from the rebel-stronghold of Benghazi, that he was sent to fire Katyusha rockets but was given a simple, unguided version of the rocket instead.   "He told us that on Thursday night a new shipment of Katyusha rockets had been sent into eastern Libya from Egypt. He didn't say they were sourced from Egypt, but that was their route through," our correspondent said. "He said these were state-of-the-art, heat-seeking rockets and that they needed to be trained on how [...]

Well, all I can say is we deserved it and hope that you, for a moment, had a terrible since of [...]

Obama Defends Limited Action in Libya

Obama Defends Limited Action in Libya

In a speech to the nation, President Obama "said that the military operations in Libya have succeeded in averting a humanitarian catastrophe, but he pledged that the United States would continue to scale back its involvement in the conflict over the coming days," the New York Times reports. Some reactions: David Brody: "It seems that President Obama just delivered his 'Mission Accomplished' speech but has the mission been accomplished? While the President says America's work is not complete, he made it very clear that the goals in Libya have been met and now it's time to let the World take the lead." Andrew Sullivan: "The major objection - what happens now? - was not answered affirmatively by the president. It was answered negatively: there would be no military effort at [...]
