Gingrich takes the lead

Gingrich takes the lead

Newt Gingrich has taken the lead in PPP's national polling.  He's at 28% to 25% for Herman Cain and 18% for Mitt Romney.  The rest of the Republican field is increasingly looking like a bunch of also rans: Rick Perry is at 6%, Michele Bachmann and Ron Paul at 5%, Jon Huntsman at 3%, and Gary Johnson and Rick Santorum each at 1%. Compared to a month ago Gingrich is up 13 points, while Cain has dropped by 5 points and Romney has gone down by 4.  Although a fair amount of skepticism remains about the recent allegations against Cain there is no doubt they are taking a toll on his image- his net favorability is down 25 points over the last month from +51 (66/15) to only +26 (57/31). What is perhaps a little more surprising is that Romney's favorability is at a 6 month low in our polling [...]

Cain Leads GOP Field in SOUTH CAROLINA!

By Albert N. Milliron It has been said that political primaries are like biblical time, one day can be like a thousand years.  Having said that, This writer, said nearly two Months ago that we thought Herman Cain could win the "First in the South" South Carolina Republican Primary. In a discussion with Meghan McCain, we predicted a Romney Win in New Hampshire (no stretch there) but said that Herman Cain is our predicted winner for the South Carolina Primary. While Cains Lead over Romney is just one percentage point and falls within the polls margin of error, we still see this as significant. Zogby Poll: Herman Cain Leads by 10 percentage points, Perry 18%, Romney 17%, Paul 11%

UTICA, NY--Rick Perry has tumbled by more than 20 percentage points over the past month among Republican presidential primary voters and is now second to Herman Cain, who leads the field with 28%. Mitt Romney received little benefit from Perrys fall, garnering 17% of the vote for third place. As for President Barack Obama, both his job approval (42%) and the percentage who believe he deserves re-election (37%) are little changed from recent polls, but he does seem to be winning back some supporters who have been disappointed in his job performance. These results are from an IBOPE Zogby interactive poll conducted Sept. 23-26 of all likely voters and of likely Republican primary voters.
