CNN Cancels John King’s Political show, Blitzer expands
John King is an excellent political correspondent but his ratings on his own show were dismal. CNN will put him back on the campaign trail and expand Wolf Blitzer to three hours. The ailing cable news channel CNN on Wednesday abruptly ended “John King, USA,” its 6 p.m. political news program. The program will be replaced at the end of the month by “The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer,” which will expand from two hours to three hours. Mr. Blitzer’s program currently precedes Mr. King’s, beginning at 4 p.m. Ken Jautz, the executive in charge of CNN, said in an internal memo that the schedule change was made to improve political coverage this year. Mr. King will be the network’s top campaign correspondent for the remainder of the presidential election cycle. He had a [...]
CNN Cancels March 1 Debate After Candidates Decline
What? No More Reality GOP TV? CNN canceled its March 1 Republican candidates' debate Thursday after three of four candidates declined to participate, citing busy campaign schedules leading to Super Tuesday. "Mitt Romney and Ron Paul told the Georgia Republican Party, Ohio Republican Party and CNN Thursday that they will not participate in the March 1 Republican presidential primary debate," CNN said in a statement. "Without full participation of all four candidates, CNN will not move forward with the Super Tuesday debate." Former U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum also said he would not participate, leaving only former House Speaker Newt Gingrich committed to attending. Still scheduled is a Feb. 22 debate sponsored by CNN and the Arizona Republican Party in Mesa, Ariz. It will be moderated [...]
South Carolina Debate – Gingrich: I am tired of the elite media protecting Barack Obama
It would be an understatement to say that last night's debate was feisty. CNN's host John King received a real tongue lashing when his opening question to Newt Gingrich was about Marianne Gingrich's interview with ABC. Bad chess move John King. Gingrich said it was despicable that John King and his staff chose the question about his wife's interview as the first question in a Presidential debate. “Every person in here has had someone close to them go through painful things. To take an ex-wife and make it, two days before cialis buy the primary, a significant question for a presidential campaign is as close to despicable as anything I can imagine, Gingrich said” When King tried to defend the question, Gingrich fired back that even though the interview was published by [...]

KING: Mr. Cain, another issue that's come up in recent years... (APPLAUSE) ... as this debate has bubbled up is the whole question of birthright citizenship. If there are two illegal immigrants, two adults who came into this country illegally, and they have a child, should that child be considered a citizen of the United States? CAIN: I don't believe so. But let's -- let's look at solving the real problem, OK? Immigration is full of problems, not one. This is why we keep kicking the can down the road. Secure the borders. Get serious about securing our borders. Number two, enforce the laws that are already there. Number [...]

Mr. Cain, back to you. And while you're fired up there, let's turn to Social Security. Can you be specific regarding ages and income levels? Everyone talks about reform. What is your specific [...]

PAWLENTY: We live in the United States of America and people shouldn't be forced to belong or be a member in any organization. And the government has no business telling you what group to be a member of or not. I support strongly right-to-work legislation. (APPLAUSE) PAWLENTY: Like I said, for much of his life my dad was a teamster truck driver. My brothers and sisters, many of them are in unions, I was in a union. We grew up in a blue-collar town. I understand these issues. My family were Reagan-Democrats, now most of them listen to Rush Limbaugh actually. But the point is, I understand these issues, but we don't have a government tell us what organizations or associations we [...]
