Reid pulls Gun Bill to Re-load

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid announced Thursday he’s placing expanded gun-purchase background checks on ice, bringing a sudden halt to a months-long debate as he and other gun control advocates nevertheless vowed to fight another day. Mr. Reid said Thursday that after speaking with President Obama, the best option going forward after the measure was defeated in the Senate Wednesday was to “hit pause” and regroup. Obama, Reid Failure to Launch on Background Checks

Obama, Reid Failure to Launch on Background Checks

The Senate dealt a major blow to new gun controls on Wednesday when senators voted to defeat the background check proposal that had become the center of the post-Newtown firearms debate. The 54-46 vote left senators six shy of the 60 needed to approve the amendment, and it left gun control advocates struggling to pick up the pieces of a bill that many on both sides of the issue now say is fatally flawed. The vote is a major disappointment for President Obama, who had called not only for universal background checks but also for bans on some types of firearms and on high-capacity ammunition magazines. Both of those proposals were expected to be defeated later Wednesday. Read more: - Washington Times. President Obama will address the Nation at 5:30 PM on failure of the [...]

Harry Reid: We don’t have the Right to Arm ourselves Against the Government

Harry Reid: We don't have the right to arm ourselves against the Government By Albert N. Milliron Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) said that he will support the Assault Weapon Ban against what he calls conspiracy theorists, black helicopters and false flags: “I’ll vote for the ban because saving the lives of police officers, young and old, and innocent civilians, young and old, is more important than preventing imagined tyranny,” I believe that as Americans, we have a right to arm ourselves against criminals, but we don’t need the ability to arm ourselves against the army or the police. The United States military is not out to get us. Federal law enforcement, local police departments are not out to get us. These conspiracy theories are dangerous and they should [...]

Video: Key Democrats Evolution on Gay Marriage or Political Expedience?

Video Democrats Evolution on Gay Marriage or Political expedience? By Albert N. Milliron The following video is of senior Democrats supporting traditional marriage.  Seems to us that Democrats have evolved nearly at the same time.  Biden, Obama, Hillary and Bill Clinton, Dick Durbin, and Harry Reid have all evolved within the last year. If one knows Democrats, like we know Democrats, their evolution on same sex marriage is similar to what happened following the Civil Rights movement.  The same people that wore white sheets, authored Jim Crow laws and shouted segregation forever,  found out that with those viewpoints would not get  be re-elected. So in order to protect themselves, they became champions of Civil Rights.  The same goes for this issue.  Today, [...]

Democrats pass ‘Balanced Approach’ Budget – Trillion in Taxes, No Payment on the Debt, almost no Cuts

Democrats pass 'Balanced Approach' Budget 1 Trillion in New taxes, No payment of Debt,  and almost no Cuts - That's Democrat Balance! The term “pre dawn” should only be used to describe two things: Raids and Tony Orlando’s early years. When “pre dawn” is used in reference to the time of day Congress acted, especially heading into a weekend, it probably means potential bad news for the rest of us. That said, at about 5 o’clock this morning — pre dawn — the Senate passed its first budget in four years. Maybe the “no budget no pay” bill did the trick, or maybe Dems decided it’s well past time to raise taxes again. The voting was first and foremost affected by positioning for 2014: The Senate early Saturday passed its first budget in four years by a vote of 50 to [...]

Dems urge Obama to Raise Debt Ceiling Unilaterally, Same Dems Voted against Increase in ’06

On Friday the Democratic leadership of the Senate — Majority Leader Harry Reid, Assistant Majority Leader Richard Durbin, Conference Chair Charles Schumer, and Conference Secretary Patty Murray — wrote to President Obama urging him to unilaterally raise the debt ceiling in the event that Republicans either block such an increase or attempt to pass one “as part of unbalanced or unreasonable legislation.” “We believe that you must make clear that you will never allow our nation’s economy and reputation to be held hostage,” the Democrats wrote.  “We believe you must be willing to take any lawful steps to ensure that America does not break its promises and trigger a global economic crisis — without congressional approval, if necessary.” Put aside the picture of [...]

Senate Democrats Hypocritically Embrace Nuclear Option – Flashback Video

Senate Democrats Hypocritically Embrace Nuclear Option – Flashback Video

Congress: Changing the filibuster rule come January has suddenly become a top priority for Senate Democrats who want to help their re-elected president complete his fundamental transformation of America. Minority Leader Mitch McConnell on Monday blasted Democratic-led efforts to reform the filibuster, something the Democrats once vehemently opposed but which Majority Leader Harry Reid has promised to bring up in the next Congress, fearing the Republicans will dig in to block President Obama's agenda. What Reid and the Democrats will come up with is unknown at this point. Among the options is to ban filibusters that block the start of floor debates and House-Senate conference committees from convening. One proposal would force senators to actually get up and talk endlessly in [...]
