Warren Buffet Cleans Up After Keystone XL Nixed

Warren Buffet Cleans Up After Keystone XL Nixed

When President Obama, who is normally a great proponent of “infrastructure” projects, made his bizarre decision to block the Keystone XL pipeline project, I wondered if he might have been induced to create those thousands of American jobs if the oil could be moved by his beloved high-speed rail. As it turns out, oil is already moved from northern latitudes, such as the booming oil fields of North Dakota, down to the Gulf of Mexico by rail of the old, low-speed variety.  Fortunately, as Newt Gingrich pointed out during the Monday night Republican debate in Florida, the oil is on private land, so Obama can’t shut production down. Shipping the oil with a pipeline would have significantly reduced costs, as an Associated Press report explains: via Warren Buffet Cleans Up After [...]

The Political Dance: Obama is for Oil Drilling, Wha Wha What?

The Political Dance: Obama is for Oil Drilling, Wha Wha What?

This Guy Flip-Flops more than an episode of Flipper.  It is Flip-Flop season, what we call here at Politisite as, "the Political Dance".  You step a little to the left, and than to the right, you hold out your hands, and hold that money tight! President Obama, facing voter anger over high gasoline prices and complaints from Republicans and business leaders that his policies are restricting the development of domestic energy resources, announced Saturday that he was taking several steps to speed oil and gas drilling on public lands and waters. It was at least a partial concession to his critics at a time when consumers are paying near-record prices at the gas pump. The Republican-led House passed three bills in the last 10 days that would significantly expand and accelerate oil [...]

Big Oil: Obama’s Fake Debate

Big Oil: Obama’s Fake Debate

by Tommy Mack McEldowney Last year President Obama got on Big Oil over “environmental procedures for oil and gas exploration and development,” in response to the huge oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. A year later he is on Big Oil’s case again over their “making huge profits and you’re struggling at the pump.” The president jumped their case in his weekly radio address following one of the biggest oil companies', Exxon Mobil, report that its profit rose 69 percent to $10.65 billion during the first three months of the year. Huge profits are different from huge oil spills. In addition to Obama saying, “these tax giveaways aren’t right” and “we need to end them,” Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus (D-MT) released a plan to end “billions of dollars [...]

Palin Flashback: What We Were Saying One Year Ago About Obama’s Failed Energy Policy

Palin Flashback: What We Were Saying One Year Ago About Obama’s Failed Energy Policy

It’s unbelievable (literally) the rhetoric coming from President Obama today. This is coming from he who is manipulating the U.S. energy supply. President Obama is once again giving lip service to a “new energy proposal”; but let’s remember the last time he trotted out a “new energy proposal” – nearly a year ago to the day. The main difference is today we have $4 a gallon gas in some places in the country.  This is no accident.  This administration is not a passive observer to the trends that have inflated oil prices to dangerous levels. His war on domestic oil and gas exploration and production has caused us pain at the pump, endangered our already sluggish economic recovery, and threatened our national security. Through a process of what candidate Obama once [...]

Obama: Drill, Brazil, Drill!

Obama: Drill, Brazil, Drill!

Energy Policy: While leaving U.S. oil and jobs in the ground, our itinerant president tells a South American neighbor that we'll help it develop its offshore resources so we can one day import its oil. WHAT?!? With Japan staggered by a natural disaster and a nuclear crisis, cruise missiles launched against Libya in our third Middle East conflict and a majority of U.S. senators complaining about a lack of leadership on the budget, President Obama decided it would be a good time to schmooze with Brazilians. His "What, me worry?" presidency has given both Americans and our allies plenty to worry about. But in the process of making nice with Brazil, Obama made a mind-boggling announcement that should make even his most loyal supporter cringe: We will help Brazil develop its [...]

Feds: No new drilling permits

Feds: No new drilling permits

Oil prices have been on the rise recently, with supply worries from the unrest in the Middle East pushing prices past $106 a barrel this morning, the highest in two years. Americans are feeling the sting of an average $3.50 a gallon price at the pump, with prices as high as $5 a gallon in some areas such as L.A. The Obama administration has issued contradictory statements on the high oil prices. On Friday the Obama administration appealed a judge's ruling that the Department of Interior stop holding up the application process of several deepwater drilling permits. The move effectively continues the de facto ban on deepwater drilling in the Gulf. On Sunday however, White House Chief of Staff Bill Daley said the Obama administration is considering tapping into the U.S. [...]

Federal judge Gives Salazar 30 days to act on drilling permits

Federal judge Gives Salazar 30 days to act on drilling permits

Federal District Judge Martin Feldman today gave President Obama and Interior Secretary Ken Salazar 30 days to act on five applications seeking permits to drill in the Gulf of Mexico submitted months ago by a Louisiana firm. In issuing the directive to the government, Feldman, who sits on the District Court for the Eastern District of Louisian, noted that “it is undisputed that before the Deepwater Horizon disaster, permits were processed, on average, in two weeks’ time. In stark contrast, the five permits at issue have been pending from four to some nine months.” The permits were sought by Ensco Offshore, which is based in Broussard, LA. Virtually no new drilling has occurred in the Gulf since the Deepwater Horizon disaster, despite the fact the U.S. [...]

MMS suspends ALL drilling permits in Gulf of Mexico – Never Mind

MMS suspends ALL drilling permits in Gulf of Mexico – Never Mind

Just one day after a permit was issued by MMS to drill 50 miles off the Gulf Coast in 115 feet of water, MMS has suspended ALL drilling in the Gulf no matter the depth of the water.  This comes as Majority leader Harry Reid says they will take up and Energy Bill in July and after President Obama said that there needs to be carbon taxes incorporated in the law.  Sound fishy?  You Betcha! Update:  Email should have not gone out... Permits will be approved for shallow water...   So as Rosanne Rosanna Dana says.. never Mind! The Minerals Management Service has stopped issuing permits for new oil and gas drilling in the Gulf of Mexico regardless of water depth, effectively extending President Obama's previously announced suspension of permits for deepwater drilling into the shallow [...]
