White House Warns of Travel Delays due to Sequestration

White House Press Briefing Warns of Travel Delays due to Sequestration PRESS BRIEFING BY PRESS SECRETARY JAY CARNEY AND SECRETARY OF TRANSPORTATION RAY LAHOOD  James S. Brady Press Briefing Room      MR. CARNEY:  I just want to say that it is my pleasure, and clearly yours, to have with me today the Secretary of Transportation, Ray LaHood, who is here to speak with you about the impacts of sequester, if it comes to pass, on the American travel industry. And as we’ve talked about a lot, the indiscriminate, deep cuts will affect everyone, really, in America, and industries.  And Secretary LaHood is here to discuss one aspect of that with you and to take some questions.  And afterwards, I’ll be here to take questions on other issues.      I just want to remind you that [...]

Senate Bill would require warrant to spy on Americans with Drones

Senate Bill would require warrant to spy on Americans with Drones

Remember the lefts outrage over Bush's warrant-less wiretapping?  Where are those folks when Obama is targeting Americans for  death with out due process and the use of  Drones to spy on citizens without a warrant?  Amazing how the civil liberties party is quiet. Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) on Tuesday introduced the Preserving Freedom from Unwarranted Surveillance Act, which would require the government to get a warrant before using aerial drones to surveil U.S. citizens. More broadly, Paul's bill is aimed at preventing "unwarranted governmental intrusion" through the use of drones, according to the lawmaker. "Like other tools used to collect information in law enforcement, in order to use drones a warrant needs to be issued," Paul said Tuesday. "Americans going about their everyday [...]

Republicans Vote Overwhelmingly to Spy on You in Public

When George Orwell wrote 1984: he was ahead of his time, but I wonder if he truly knew just how accurate he was.  He just got the date wrong.  In the past week both the U.S. House and Senate voted on H.R. 658, the FAA Modernization and Reform Act, which “orders the Federal Aviation Administration to develop regulations for the testing and licensing of commercial drones by 2015.” These drones will be placed over U.S. airspace around the country for surveillance.  Of course, the neo-cons are justifying their betrayal of the American people by citing the threat of terrorism to spy on us 24 hours a day every time we walk outside anywhere in the country.  They expect 30,000 of these to be in place within the next eight years. People wonder how nations turn into a police state, [...]

FAA Chief Babbitt Resigns Following Drunken Driving Arrest

WASHINGTON – Federal Aviation Administrator Randy Babbitt announced Tuesday that he has resigned following his arrest in Virginia on drunken-driving charges. Babbitt said he did not want to "let anything cast a shadow on the outstanding work done 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by my colleagues at the FAA." He said he submitted his resignation Tuesday, "and it has been accepted." The announcement comes after Babbitt, 65, was arrested Saturday night in Fairfax City, Va., by a patrolman who said the FAA administrator was driving on the wrong side of the road. He was charged with driving while intoxicated. via FAA Chief Babbitt Resigns Following Drunken Driving Arrest | Fox News.

While Obama demonizes Corporate Jets he is O.K. with Government Subsidies of entire airports

How much does it cost you?  Find out A federal program that provides subsidies to airlines for providing passenger service to small airports that would otherwise go without came under fire as Congress deadlocked on a recent FAA authorization leading to an agency shutdown. But the money now looks to be safe as the transportation secretary plans to sign a waiver that overrides congressional calls to end at least some of the funding. That waiver led to Senate passage of a House FAA authorization bill that yanked the funding. Yeah I got your Subsidy right here. While Obama goes after corporate jet owners seems he loves Airport Owners

Yeah I got your Subsidy right here. While Obama goes after corporate jet owners seems he loves Airport Owners

By Michelle Malkin I know you fellow Tea Party terrorists don’t need any debt-ceiling theater reality checks from me. So let’s just note this one for posterity’s sake. While Washington proclaims victory over business as usual, business as usual in Washington reigns. Congress cannot even bring itself to kill an outdated and inefficient $175 million pet plane subsidy program championed by Democrat Sen. Jay Rockefeller. It’s the sticking point that led to the partial shutdown of the FAA. And all those Democrats railing about the need to compromise? They’re the ones who refused. To. Compromise. The Rockefeller Air Subsidy is known as the “Essential Air Service” program. It was meant to aid travelers in rural, “remote” areas. USAToday: Many of the “remote” [...]

STATEMENT OF OBAMA ADMINISTRATION POLICY – H.R. 2553 – Airport and Airway Extension Act of 2011, Part IV

STATEMENT OF OBAMA ADMINISTRATION POLICY – H.R. 2553 – Airport and Airway Extension Act of 2011, Part IV

(Rep. Mica, R-FL, and 2 cosponsors)  The Administration strongly supports passage of a clean extension of Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) programs, as the Congress has done 20 times without controversy, in order to allow bipartisan, bicameral negotiations to continue on a full reauthorization. H.R. 2553 includes controversial provisions that, because they have not been negotiated, needlessly threaten critical FAA programs and jeopardize thousands of public and private sector jobs.  Without timely passage of a clean extension, all of FAA’s capital accounts (Grants-in-Aid for Airports, Facilities and Equipment, and Research, Engineering, and Development) would be shut down, and approximately 4,000 employees would be furloughed.  FAA’s ability to award new grants, including for [...]
