Polling the Occupy Wall Street Crowd – Alignment May cost Democrats the 2012 election.

By DOUGLAS SCHOEN President Obama and the Democratic leadership are making a critical error in embracing the Occupy Wall Street movement—and it may cost them the 2012 election. Last week, senior White House adviser David Plouffe said that "the protests you're seeing are the same conversations people are having in living rooms and kitchens all across America. . . . People are frustrated by an economy that does not reward hard work and responsibility, where Wall Street and Main Street don't seem to play by the same set of rules." Nancy Pelosi and others have echoed the message. Yet the Occupy Wall Street movement reflects values that are dangerously out of touch with the broad mass of the American people—and particularly with swing voters who are largely independent and have been [...]

No Profiling Muslims: Teen Tries to Blow-up Crowd at Christmas Tree Lighting

Federal agents in a sting operation arrested a Somali-born teenager just as he tried blowing up a van he believed was loaded with explosives at a crowded Christmas tree lighting ceremony in Portland, authorities said. The bomb was an elaborate fake supplied by the agents and the public was never in danger, authorities said. Mohamed Osman Mohamud, 19, was arrested at 5:40 p.m. Friday just after he dialed a cell phone that he thought would set off the blast but instead brought federal agents and police swooping down on him. Yelling “Allahu Akbar!”—Arabic for “God is great!”—Mohamud tried to kick agents and police after he was taken into custody, according to prosecutors. “The threat was very real,” said Arthur Balizan, special agent in charge of the FBI in [...]

‘One Nation’ Rally Greatly Resembled MLK’s ‘Dream Speech’ Crowd

“One Nation Working Together” would like to thank everybody who attended Saturday’s “trash-a-palooza” rally at the Lincoln Memorial. What a scene it was: That looks like a crowd similar to those who attended MLK’s “I have a dream” speech: Look at the positioning of some of the people on the near-side of the reflecting pool in the “One Nation” picture vs. the MLK speech photo: My God, do you know what this means? It means a lot of the same people who attended Dr. King’s speech “dream” speech were so moved by the goals and visions of the “One Nation” rally that they decided to show up and stand in the exact same positions they did in 1963! What a tribute! If that doesn’t give you a lump in your throat, nothing will. Seriously, imagine the outrage [...]
