Catholic Leaders Take the Fight to Obama
The Catholic church shows no sign of backing down in its struggle with President Obama over Obamacare’s requirement that Catholic institutions cover birth control, casting the issue in broader terms as a matter of religious freedom.Obama is sure to suffer politically from the fallout in key swing states with large Catholic voting populations, like Pennsylvania, Ohio and other areas of the Midwest. Most Catholics use birth control, but many may recoil at any perceived attack by Obama on the church. On Meet the Press, Bishop William Lori, archbishop-designate of Baltimore, said:What we’ve seen is an erosion of religious liberty. Our teachings had been accommodated, but now they are not being accommodated.Archbishop Timothy Dolan of New York said the church would continue the fight, [...]

The Obama Campaign’s Fake Romney Criticism
I love it when the Obama campaign tries to pretend its effort is not about money but about the grass roots and all those Republicans, all they care about is money and their fat cat contributors and blah blah blah. This morning Rufus Gifford, the Obama finance chairman, disingenuously – and that’s being nice – announced that Mitt Romney with the snap of a finger can suddenly raise up to $75,800. Here’s part of what he wrote. The bold is his. Here we go — Romney, the Republican National Committee, and Republican state parties just announced they’ll begin raising money together.Just like that, Romney’s donors can give $75,800 — a significant boost from the $5,000 max they could give last week. We’re not going to get a clearer sign that this election is on.All of the emails, [...]

President Obama: Time to Try Again on Trayvon
This is a guest post. Can anyone, anywhere, please ask President Obama to speak to the country, invoke Lincoln and appeal to “the Better Angels of our Nature?”We need it. Now.It’s time for you to speak about the Trayvon Martin tragedy again. On November 3rd, 2008, The Michigan Daily said, “…Obama has proven that he can bridge racial, religious, age and partisan lines.”Mr. President, bridge these lines.Right now – as I type this – there are at least five people either on the run, in hiding, underground, or terrorized. They aren’t fugitives from the Law. They are the pursued prey of The Mob. Photo by Keith KofflerAnd I’m not talking about criminals – as of yet. I’m talking about George Zimmerman – who shot Trayvon Martin – Zimmerman’s parents, and the McClains, [...]

The 2012 Obama Golf Season Has Begun!
President Obama today went to play golf for the first time in 2012, heading out on a beautiful spring Saturday to the links at Andrews Air Force Base outside of Washington. The outing suggests that Obama has no plans to cut back on golf during a presidential campaign that he is casting as a battle against the privileges of the elite.Mitt Romney, the likely Republican nominee, took a swipe at Obama’s golf game in a debate earlier this year, noting that “you’ve got a president who’s played 90 rounds of golf while there are 25 million Americans out of work.”With today’s round, Obama has now been golfing 93 time since becoming president.Obama had not been golfing since December 30, when he was out on a course in Hawaii with a group of his personal buddies. It was his 34th and [...]
