Take My Liberty! Give Me Death!
Due to all the recent confusion, I must formally introduce myself to you folks. My name is America. To be quite honest, I’m not sure who you are, at least, not anymore. Media Credit: Wikipedia Don’t you remember me?!! It was us, together, that fought off tyranny back in the 1700’s; King George and those filthy redcoats were trampling on our rights, and we believed that no government, especially one thousands of miles away, had the right to control our lives! We have always stood together and promoted the American Dream that we fought for, letting the world know that every man has the opportunity to work for success and happiness in our land. Don’t you still believe in that? Recently, it seems that more of you want me to provide for your well being; the welfare checks and [...]
The Wisdom of Hope
By: M.J. Rusaw “It is better to beg than steal, it is better to work than beg.” —Confucius Chess players learn there is no benefit to a bad idea succeeding. Even for the most charismatic leaders, bad ideas inevitably bring catastrophe — sudden failure. Electing the most inexperienced, liberal senator in America to lead our nation at a time parallel to the Great Depression was a bad idea. However, he told us the truth. He promised he would fundamentally transform America, and even though America is a values system, and that’s like promising to fundamentally transform the endowment of our Creator of certain inalienable rights, chief among them the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, he began immediately to do it. This November, America has a critical [...]

Obama Class Warfare – Yuck! – Ted Leonsis Take
My dad was a waiter. My mom was a secretary. Neither attended college. I grew up in Brooklyn, NY and Lowell, Massachusetts. I attended public schools. My parents - in their best year - earned $31,000 combined. My dad worked for tips - often received in change - as he worked a counter for breakfast and lunch at a diner. My dad, too, once lost his job. I remember the angst in our household. I attended Georgetown University which at the time wasn’t a need blind school via college loans. I paid them all back five years after I graduated. I have great empathy for middle class or lower middle class America. My horizons as a young adult were not expansive. I was programmed to be a produce department manager at a grocery store in my neighborhood. That was my dad’s aspiration for me. I would [...]

Saving the American Dream: The Heritage Plan to Fix the Debt, Cut Spending, and Restore Prosperity
Saving the American Dream is The Heritage Foundation’s plan to fix the debt, cut spending and, above all, restore prosperity. It balances the nation’s budget within a decade—and keeps it balanced. It reduces the debt and cuts government in half. It eliminates government-mandated health care and fully funds our national defense. It squarely confronts Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid, the three so-called entitlement programs, which together account for 43 percent of federal spending today. To encourage Americans to become more fiscally responsible, the Heritage plan redesigns our entire tax system into an expenditure tax that will have a single, flat rate. This is a structure that will promote savings, therefore benefiting individual Americans, [...]
