Being Green isn’t Just for Liberals Anymore
When people think of the green movement, they are likely to think of liberals driving around in their Toyota Prius cars and frequenting the organic grocers. But being green isn’t just for liberals. In fact, there is a whole subculture of conservatives who are very passionate about eating foods from local sustainable farmers, cooking from scratch and using whole natural products. Chevy Volt Costing Taxpayers Up to $250K Per Vehicle
Each Chevy Volt sold thus far may have as much as $250,000 in state and federal dollars in incentives behind it – a total of $3 billion altogether, according to an analysis by James Hohman, assistant director of fiscal policy at the Mackinac Center for Public Policy. Hohman looked at total state and federal assistance offered for the development and production of the Chevy Volt, General Motors’ plug-in hybrid electric vehicle. His analysis included 18 government deals that included loans, rebates, grants and tax credits. The amount of government assistance does not include the fact that General Motors is currently 26 percent owned by the federal government. Obama White House pushed Solyndra to put off layoffs until after election
The Department of Energy pushed “very hard” for failed solar panel maker Solyndra LLC to delay announcing layoffs until after the Nov. 2, 2010, midterm elections, contradicting claims that politics played no role in the administration’s handling of the now-bankrupt company. Obama Administration Refuses to Release E-Mails on Solyndra

Many readers will recall that at the start of Obama's term, he insisted that he keep his Blackberry. Eventually his demand was granted. A fight has broken out in the blogosphere over whether Team Blue or Team Red is more “anti-science.” Microbiologist Alex Berezow, editor of RealClearScience, struck the first blow in the pages of USA Today. "For every anti-science Republican that exists," he wrote, "there is at least one anti-science Democrat. Neither party has a monopoly on scientific illiteracy." Crony Capitalism: $737 Million Green Jobs Loan Given to Nancy Pelosi's Family
Despite the growing Solyndra scandal, yesterday the Department of Energy approved $1 billion in new loans to green energy companies -- including a $737 million loan guarantee to a company known as SolarReserve: SolarReserve LLC, a closely held renewable energy developer, received a $737 million U.S. Energy Department loan guarantee to build a solar-thermal project in Nevada. The 110-megawatt Crescent Dunes project, near Tonopah, Nevada, will use the sun’s heat to create steam that drives a turbine, the agency said today in a e-mailed statement.
