$11.45 Million: The cost of EACH Obama green energy job
The cost of each taxpayer-financed green energy job created since 2009: $26.32 billion divided by 2,298 jobs = $11.45 million per job… Green energy jobs and DOE loans are tallied under programs 1703 and 1705 on this list. Permanent jobs created: 2,298 Taxpayer financed loan guarantees: $26.33 billion 19 of the projects cost more than $10 million per permanent job… Even if you use the Obama maldaministration’s accounting methods and include temporary employment, the totally idiotic “jobs created/saved” category and include the 33,000 Ford Motor Company jobs “saved”, you get ~60,000 jobs at a cost of $34.5 billion –> $580,000 per job. Has Earth really experienced statistically significant Global Warming since 1800s?
Met Office admits claims of significant temperature rise untenable by Doug Keenan. It has been widely claimed that the increase in global temperatures since the late 1800s is too large to be reasonably attributed to natural random variation. Moreover, that claim is arguably the biggest reason for concern about global warming. The basis for the claim has recently been discussed in the UK Parliament. It turns out that the claim has no basis, and scientists at the Met Office have been trying to cover that up. The Parliamentary Question that started this was put by Lord Donoughue on 8 November 2012. The Question is as follows. To ask Her Majesty’s Government … whether they consider a rise in global temperature of 0.8 degrees Celsius since 1880 to be significant. The Answer [...]
Feel good about saving the World with your Green Car? Scientist says you’re Fooling yourself
Green Cars Have a Dirty Little Secret By Bjorn Lomborg Electric cars are promoted as the chic harbinger of an environmentally benign future. Ads assure us of "zero emissions," and President Obama has promised a million on the road by 2015. With sales for 2012 coming in at about 50,000, that million-car figure is a pipe dream. Consumers remain wary of the cars' limited range, higher price and the logistics of battery-charging. But for those who do own an electric car, at least there is the consolation that it's truly green, right? Not really. For proponents such as the actor and activist Leonardo DiCaprio, the main argument is that their electric cars—whether it's a $100,000 Fisker Karma (Mr. DiCaprio's ride) or a $28,000 Nissan Leaf—don't contribute to global warming. And, sure, [...]
Fracking is Wonderful – Stossel
In my special tomorrow, titled "Myths, Lies and Complete Stupidity" I argue that it is myth to say that fracking, used to get natural gas out of the ground, is unacceptably dangerous. Fracking is indeed dangerous. But so is coal mining, oil drilling, nuclear waste, building windmills and solar collectors, and shipping windmills and solar collectors. All energy production poses dangers. Life involves trade-offs. The tradeoffs for natural gas are well worth it. Fracking allows Americans to save money on home heating bills. It's lowered the price of natural gas so much that manufacturing that left America is coming back. It may make America energy independent. For those concerned about global warming, burning gas instead of oil and coal helps reduce CO2 emissions. So I was puzzled that [...]
Matt Drudge Irony Snorts! Snow delays Congressional global warming hearing Again!
Snort! Matt Drudge doesn’t tweet often from his personal Twitter account, but when he does, it sure packs a punch. Today, he took on the hilarity of a Congressional global warming hearing being delayed … due to snow. Seriously. The House Science, Space and Technology Committee announced early Wednesday that it's postponing its environmental subcommittee's scheduled 10 a.m. hearing on the state of the science behind climate [...]
Keystone Pipeline will have little impact on Environment – Read the Full Report
Friday Evening News Dump WASHINGTON — The State Department announced Friday that construction of the Keystone XL Pipeline is unlikely to have a significant impact on climate change, a finding that could open the door for President Barack Obama to approve the controversial project. The 1,700-mile pipeline would bring oil from the Alberta oil sands in Canada to U.S. refineries on the Gulf Coast. The Congressional Research Service has estimated that crude oil from the sands could produce 14 percent to 20 percent more planet-warming gases than the average oil in U.S. refineries. But the State Department said Friday that denying the pipeline wouldn’t stop the Canadian oil from getting to market by rail or construction of other new pipelines. Read more The State. UN admits Solar Activity plays significant role in Global Warming
The Earth has been getting warmer -- but how much of that heat is due to greenhouse gas emissions and how much is due to natural causes? During the last 100 years, temperature and amount of solar activity has shown a strong correlation. Solar activity could be measured in the amount of sunspots. Media Credit: globalwarmingawarenessblog.com A leaked report by a United Nations’ group dedicated to climate studies says that heat from the sun may play a larger role than previously thought. “ do suggest the possibility of a much larger impact of solar variations on the stratosphere than previously thought, and some studies have suggested that this may lead to significant regional impacts on climate,” reads a draft copy of a major, upcoming report from the U.N.’s [...]
Obama Immigration Photo-op to cost $1.6M Dollars
So the president is going to Las Vegas baby to give a speech for an hour. His Global warming carbon foot print set aside (if you buy that sort of thing) will cost American Taxpayers nearly 1.6 million dollars President Barack Obama will fly over 9 hours tomorrow, round-trip from Washington, D.C. to Las Vegas, Nevada, just to deliver a speech on immigration, according to the president's White House schedule. With Air Force One estimated to cost $182,000 per hour in flight, Obama's trip--that is, only his travel to and from Vegas--will cost taxpayers over $1.6 million. Obama has no other public events scheduled in Las Vegas but his immigration speech. "In the morning, the President will depart the White House en route Las Vegas, Nevada. The departure from the South Lawn and the [...]
Senate Forces Military to use $27 per Gallon Biofuel
Eleven Republicans vote with most Democrats to impose “green energy” mandate Move over $800 toilet seats. Instead of letting our fighting men and women fill up on fuel at the prices that you pay at the pump, the U.S. Senate has just voted to force the military to pay $27 per gallon on ultra-pricey biofuels that nobody else wants. Read all about it from the Institute for Energy Research. The real crime in this is that eleven Republicans joined most Democrats in the 62-37 vote. My son just enlisted in the Army today. I’d suggest that he and his fellow soldiers are a better place to invest than paying 10x more than necessary for fuel. 10 Myths and Facts about Global Warming
From Friends of Science. Be sure to visit their page and bookmark it. COMMON MISCONCEPTIONS ABOUT GLOBAL WARMING MYTH 1: Global temperatures are rising at a rapid, unprecedented rate. FACT: The HadCRUT3 surface temperature index shows warming to 1878, cooling to 1911, warming to 1941, cooling to 1964, warming to 1998 and cooling through 2011. The warming rate from 1964 to 1998 was the same as the previous warming from 1911 to 1941. Satellites, weather balloons and ground stations all show cooling since 2001. The mild warming of 0.6 to 0.8 C over the 20th century is well within the natural variations recorded in the last millennium. The ground station network suffers from an uneven distribution across the globe; the stations are preferentially located in growing urban and [...]
