Why Michelle Obama was at the Oscars?

Why Michelle Obama was at the Oscars?

It was the average too-long, unfunny, over-produced Academy Awards TV show and then, after suffering through the 10-hour (well, it seemed like it) show, there was the first lady. In a ball gown. With military service personnel in dress uniform behind her. She declared of the Best Picture nominees, “They reminded us that we can overcome any obstacle if we dig deep enough and fight hard enough and find the courage within ourselves.” Alas, none of the films nor her aides reminded her to mention the military, not those personnel behind her nor those serving overseas, an odd omission for the White House that nevertheless was pleased to have them arrayed behind her like, well, set decoration. She did have time to give a crumb to the gay community, applauding the movies that inspire us [...]

Alec Baldwin Racist or just Drawn that Way

Alec Baldwin Racist or just Drawn that Way

By Laura Lorenzo,  Guest Op-Ed For the better part of today, I have seen comments about Alec Baldwin, the bane of all conservatives, or at least those who get their banes from Sean Hannity.  He, apparently, called someone a "coon", because he's such a horrible person. Of course, that term was passe when Archie Bunker used it, which I recall thinking at the time. I didn't bother with the New York Post article, because it was the usual gossip, whose subject was neatly communicated in a single tweet. To read the article would be to indulge in the evident "misfortune" of Mr Baldwin, about whom few should have much care in the first place. The Racist Rant that didn't happen - Media Credit: The NY Post. Later in the day we discover, via TMZ, that he didn't say it. Now, I have not [...]

Watch Asteroid 2012 DA14 fly-by Live

NASA says it will chronicle today's record-close fly-by of asteroid 2012 DA14 beginning at 1 p.m. CST. The half-hour broadcast on NASA TV will approach to Earth on Feb. 15. The image is an overlay of 12 one-minute exposures and the asteroid is the small dot at the center, indicated by the red arrows. The white streaks are images of stars shown as streaks because the telescope was tracking DA14. (D.Herald) use real-time animation to show the asteroid's path by Earth live or near-live views of the asteroid from observatories in Australia, weather permitting. Asteroid 2012 DA14 is passing the Earth at a distance of 17,500 miles out. That's a record approach for an object its size. NASA says there is no chance it will strike, but it will fly between our planet and the ring of [...]

Obama State of The Union 14 Million less Viewers, Least since 2000

President Obama lost millions of voters last election.  He also appears to be less popular each year he gives a State of the Union.  Since his first Official SOTU speech in 201o, Obama has lost a total of 14.5 million viewers.   He lost 11.3% viewers from his State of the Union Speech in 2012. Further, Obama compared to other President's had less viewers since 2000 The first State of the Union of President Obama’s second term last night was watched by 33.5 million viewers. That’s down 11.3% from the 37.75  million who tuned in for last year’s address across 14 broadcast and cable networks. It’s also a State of the Union low for Obama, who has seen a decline every year since his first official SOTU in 2010 was watched by 48 million. It is not an all-time low since Nielsen [...]

Environmental Wacko NFL Super Bowl XLVII Pick

Well, according to the Madden 13 simulation of the game, which has the Ravens winning by three. Image Credit: Al Bello/Getty Images By: Edmund Jenks - West Coast Editor In the time honored tradition of Rush Limbaugh and his Friday show segment that features the picking of winners in the weekend's NFL games, here is a treatment of the Super Bowl environmental wacko pick for this weekend between the NFC San Francisco 49ers versus the AFC Baltimore Ravens. The environmental wacko picking system first looks at the team mascot or name, not the athletic prowess of each team. The next item for judgement or parsing [...]

Carville, Matalin exit CNN – Erick Erickson heads to Fox News

All that talk about Sarah Palin leaving Fox News has dominated the Lefty Media.  Seems they forgot that CNN has dumped a large number of contributors.  It's just not as sexy as Palin bashing Pundit power couple James Carville and Mary Matalin will not be continuing their contracts with CNN, according to FishbowlDC sources. In addition, Bill Bennett and Maria Cardona are also parting ways with the network, although CNN Espanol will keep Cardona on board. FAKE: Beyoncé lip-synched Star Spangled Banner at Obama inauguration

Fake and Posturing, what else is new on capital hill? Beyoncé did not sing the national anthem live at President Obama’s inauguration. Read More Marine Corps Band says “All music is pre-recorded for the ceremony because there are so many eventualities and conditions that day,” Kristin DuBois told The Post “We performed, live, the band. But we received last-minute word that Beyonce was going to use the pre-recorded vocal track. Those were the instructions we were given. Chris Matthews: Obama Second Inaugural just like Lincoln Gettysburg Address

Chris Matthews: Obama Second Inaugural just like Lincoln Gettysburg Address

Obama and Lincoln both had a second inaugural address, Both spoke in front of People, both were president at the time of the Speech.  See Obama is just like Lincoln, the comparisons are nearly endless.  And so it goes at MSNBC. Barack Obama is perhaps the only modern president who has had the burden of swatting away comparisons between his own soaring rhetoric and that of our 16th president. You may recall that, in the wake of the Newtown massacre, Pulitzer Prize–winning reporter David Maraniss gushed over the president’s remarks, writing, “People will long remember what Barack Obama said in Newtown,” and calling the speech “ Gettysburg address.” Today, thanks to MSNBC’s Chris Matthews, it took less than five minutes for the comparison to be drawn between President [...]
