Rev Al Sharpton CI-7 a Rat or Cat?

FBI said Al Sharpton worked for them which effectively made Sharpton a snitch, a rat. The Smoking Gun‘s account of Sharpton’s secret life as “CI-7” is based on hundreds of pages of confidential FBI affidavits, documents released by the bureau in response to Freedom of Information Act requests, court records, and extensive interviews with six members of the Genovese squad, as well as other law enforcement officials to whom the activist provided assistance. Beginning in the mid-1980s and spanning several years, Sharpton’s cooperation was fraught with danger since the FBI’s principal targets were leaders of the Genovese crime family, the country’s largest and most feared Mafia outfit. In addition to aiding the FBI/NYPD task force, which was known as the “Genovese squad,” Sharpton’s cooperation extended to several other investigative agencies.

Al Sharpton: Rat or Cat?

Al Sharpton has of course denied all such claims by FBI. He emphatically stated that he was no rat but instead was a cat! Sharpton has come a long way and is today an established race hustler and a prolific speaker. Along with Jesse Jackson, Sharpton has made ‘race’ a multi-million dollar empire. In fact, these two reverends have been so successful at their game that they see race everywhere, even when there maybe none. The two reverends also possess powers of creating like when Sharpton and Jackson took up the case of the young black woman who falsely accused 3 lacrosse players of raping her. In 2006, this incident became a rallying cry for the likes of Sharpton and Jackson for injustice, poverty, blacks and race. Fortunately, all charges against the Duke Lacrosse players were dropped as it was revealed that the woman had lied and later was found guilty of second degree murder of her boyfriend! Sharpton and Jackson quietly put away their microphones until next time.

Now, Sharpton is vehemently denying having worked as an FBI informant. “He is alleging that claims of government cooperation were attempts by dark forces to stunt his aggressive brand of civil rights advocacy or, perhaps, get him killed as also claimed in his most recent book “The Rejected Stone”.  If Sharpton’s account is to be believed, he was simply a concerned citizen who voluntarily (and briefly) joined arm-in-arm with federal agents, perhaps risking his own life in the process. Or the other explanation for Sharpton’s cooperation, one that has been uniformly offered by knowledgeable law enforcement agents is one that presents the reverend in a less noble light. Worried that he could face criminal charges, Sharpton opted for the path of self-preservation and did what the FBI asked. ”

In reality, Al Sharpton was privy to some under hand wheeling and dealing in the worlds of music, concerts, tickets, picketing, threats to hold mass protests if ‘money’ was not delivered on time, garbage collection and drugs. Strangely enough the mob was also involved in all the above businesses; perhaps the mob and Sharpton criss-crossed somewhere! Before he was “flipped” in the course of an FBI sting operation in 1983, Sharpton had established relationships with promoter Don King, various elected officials, and several powerful New York hoodlums involved in concert promotion, record distribution, and talent management. In short, Sharpton rose from a small hoodlum to a much accepted, officially recognized and feared big time hoodlum, so big that even the White House felt compelled to invite him in and keep him on their roster of reliable men!
