Political Ad Squeal – Joni Ernst grew up castrating hogs

Joni Ernst grew up castrating hogs on an Iowa farm, so in Washington, she’ll know how to cut pork and make politicians squeal… and while she is at it… maybe castrate a few of those pigs in DC.

A political ad from candidate for U.S. Senate Joni Ernst has grabbed attention nationwide.

Ernst starts with, “I’m Joni Ernst. I grew up castrating hogs on an Iowa farm so when I get to Washington I’ll know how to cut the pork.”

The campaign launched the ad Tuesday and already people nationwide are talking including Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon.

“I don’t know what she’s running for, but just give her the job,” Fallon said Tuesday night.

The Republican is from Red Oak and hopes to replace retiring Democrat Sen. Tom Harkin.

Ernst talked to KCCI Wednesday about reaction to the ad.

“Yes, I was being serious. It is something that we lived very simply on that farm and that’s what we grew up doing, but there is a very serious message behind it,” said Ernst.

The ad ends with, “Washington’s full of big spenders, let’s make them squeal.”
