Today the Health Industry, Tomorrow the Press!

This last Friday, The Federal Communications Commission was thwarted from pummeling the First Amendment after FCC Commissioner and whistleblower, Ajit Pai, alerted the public to the President’s intentions. It seems that Barack Obama and the agency that oversees regulations for broadcast and television outlets wanted to step into the Press room where First Amendment protections from just such an action has been in place since our Founding.

Apparently, the plan was to “monitor” how news rooms decide content and to,

“identify and understand the critical information needs of the American public, with special emphasis on vulnerable-disadvantaged populations.”

It’s for the children, you see.

Given that Obama has singled out FOX NEWS to be, “not a news network“, or so said his Communications Director, Anita Dunn, one wonders if there might be a little more identifying and understanding critical information when it comes to that particular news organization as opposed to say, CNN or MSMBC.

FCC spokeswoman Shannon Gilson said,

“Any suggestion that the FCC intends to regulate the speech of news media or plans to put monitors in America’s newsrooms is false.”

Perish the thought!

The Constitution in general, and the First Amendment in specific, was written especially because the Founders knew that such an assertion by the Government was not to be trusted.

According to Gilson, Chairman Tom Wheeler agreed with critics that some of the study’s proposed questions for reporters and news directors “overstepped the bounds of what is required.”

Excuse me Ms. Gilson and Mr. Wheeler, but how is it that ANY government agency or official interest in the Press is “required”?

I’ve checked the Constitution and unless I’m missing something, there is not a phrase or clause, there is not a line or word, nay, not even a single solitary syllable that even implies that an “interest” in the Press is “required” by the Government.

The FCC,

“announced that a proposed pilot study in South Carolina will now be shelved, at least until a “new study design” is finalized.”

Until a “new study design is finalized?”

How about a new ‘Administration design’ be finalized. How about a new ‘Congress and Senate design’ be finalized. How about a new design where the people elected actually read and abide by the original ‘study design’ of this country, namely, the Constitution of the Untied States of America.

Here’s my new study design: Study all those in office who try to subvert our Most Supreme Law of the Land and have them arrested, tried for abuse of power, and at the very least, thrown out of office.

Again, Commissioner Pai,

“The Commission has now recognized that no study by the federal government, now or in the future, should involve asking questions to media owners, news directors, or reporters about their practices.”

I’m not so sure of that.

The late wildlife expert Steve Irwin “Crocodile Hunter”, in his thick Aussie accent would say of snakes,

“The snyke is a stealthy bloke, trying to sleethuh his way into the heenhouse. When he’s caught, note how he’ll fleench, then sleethuh back into the bush . . . until his neext opportunity.”

As with the ‘snykes’ the FCC didn’t suddenly realize its wrong, hang its head and beg the forgiveness of The People for its egregious sin. It realized only one thing.

It had been caught!

How many times have we had to endure some politician’s dour and sad-faced admission of, “I’m not perfect, I’ve made some mistakes, I’ve caused pain in my family and I hope that with the help of my pastor, I can make amends to those whom I’ve hurt in an effort to begin the journey back to . . .” blah, blah, blah.

The FCC didn’t even do that. They simply assured us that no wrong was done, but rather there was merely a small mistake made on one of their, “study designs”.

Obama’s arrogance is matched only by his strong-arm tactics. He’s already said he’s happy to go around Congress, subverting our legislative process and forcing his agenda,

“We are not just going to be waiting for legislation in order to make sure that we are providing Americans the kind of help that they need . . . I’ve got a pen and I’ve got a phone and I can use that pen to sign executive orders.”

Bottom line, the Obama Administration has slithered past freedoms and made us pay for healthcare, they’ve slithered past the Fourth Amendment with the NSA spying program, tapping our phone records and emails, they’ve slithered past the equal protection ideal and attacked the finances of Conservative groups using the IRS as a weapon, and now they’ve attempted to slither past the First Amendment and influence our Press.

The only possible – and I mean only possible – silver lining to this dark Obama cloud is 2014 and 16. By the grace of God, it just might be that the American people have had enough of the socialism this regime has flung at us and have the guts to throw Liberals and Liberalism out of office, Democrats and Republicans both.

Then, if a true Conservative Congress, Senate, and Presidency can be in power for a generation or two, America might have a surviving chance against the floodwaters of “hope and change”.

If not, start loading the ark.

But this time, let’s leave the snakes out, shall we?
