Video: Clay Aiken Announces Run for Congress “Open Door”

Former American Idol star Clay Aiken is officially running for Congress. The season two runner-up announced his candidacy in a video posted on Wednesday.

clay-aikenAiken is running for the House of Representatives seat in North Carolina’s second district, looking to unseat second-term Republican Rep. Renee Ellmers.

In the video, Aiken said Ellmers had good intentions when she went to Washington but then voted for legislation that was against the interests of North Carolina military families.

  1. According to the video, he’s not from Hollywood, was only there a couple of years then moved back to the state he has always loved and been proud of, NC. So what you are really asking is should he run or not. He has a right to run–as much as anyone else who meets the age and residency requirements. Will be interested in how it all plays out.
