Based on the healthy food failure it is no surprise that Mrs. Obama has now chosen something as universally uncontroversial as water; everybody likes it; the body needs it; it does not taste like vomit. Mrs Obama is trying to have Americans drink water, loads of it. Brian Anderson of Downtrend reports: The First Lady has launched a new initiative called “Drink Up” which encourages people to drink water. Mrs. Obama has teamed up with Hollywood celebs and corporate partners to get us all to drink more water. “At least one more glass a day,” she says. “Water is so basic, and because it is so plentiful, sometimes we just forget about it amid all the ads we watch on television and all the messages we receive every day about what to eat and drink. The truth is, water just gets drowned out,” said Obama. Brian Anderson further opines: First Ladies have a long history of pet projects that usually have a social or charitable purpose. Laura Bush was a champion for women’s health, curing cancer, and preventing malaria. Barbara Bush was involved in historic preservation and literacy and Nancy Reagan had her “Just Say No” anti-drug campaign. It’s no wonder Michelle Obama wanted to get in on this tradition as well.
The reality is, that people are already drinking more water than they used to. Back in 1998 people drank 54 gallons of soda a year making it the de facto king of beverages. In present time, that number is down to 44 gallons while water is being consumed at 58 gallons per person per year. When LA Times, a typical Liberal/Left paper starts giving razz to the Obamas, something is seriously wrong. Jonah Goldberg of LA times wrote in an Op/Ed piece: Telling people to drink more water is like reminding them to breathe air. While it’s nice that Michelle has taken a vacation from taking lavish taxpayer-funded vacations, it would be nice to see her focus her energies on a more worthy cause. I think it speaks volumes for how out of touch the Obamas really are. While the nation deals with the aftermath and shock of ObamaCare, Michelle Obama urges them to accept it with great sips of water. At least, the water campaign will not leave gaping holes in Americans’ pockets like her husband’s deceptive scheme is doing.
