Television personality Geraldo Rivera on Friday outlined his views on abortion, gay marriage, immigration and entitlements as he considers a Republican bid for the U.S. Senate.
Rivera is thinking about jumping into a 2014 race in New Jersey, where he has lived since 1989. In an interview with Fox News, where he hosts Geraldo At Large, Rivera called himself a “modern Republican” who lives in a Democratically blue state.
“There is a point of view that is unrepresented in states like New Jersey,” he said.
Sen. Frank Lautenberg is up for re-election next year. The Democrat has not yet said whether he’ll seek another term, but Newark Mayor Cory Booker has already declared his intention to run next year.
