Things never are what they seem to be. After leveling charges of sexual harassment against Herman Cain yesterday, the lawyer of Karen Kraushaar apparently reached out to Gloria Allred trying to arrange a joint press conference with Sharon Bialek. Herman Cain categorically denied allegations against him stating that he had never acted inappropriately with anyone, period. He said that he would foucus on his campaign and his policies. Karen Kraushaar’s lawyer said that the two women will not speak publicly anymore unless the other two women come forward.
During last night’s debate when the sexual harassment issue was raised, the audience clearly supported Cain by booing the moderator that raised it. Without facts, Cain is between a rock and a hard place. Enough doubt has been raised to put his good name and character into question. How he can overcome this will be a difficult nut to crack. Although Kraushaar and Bialek have decided not to speak publicly about the issue unless the other two women come forward, it would be prudent for Cain to get the investigations released by the National Restaurant Association. His supporters, in all likelihood, won’t drop him, but he may have difficulty capturing the hearts and minds of Independents.
Herman Cain dodged a bullet Thursday as one of his sex assault accusers, Karen Kraushaar, said she won’t be telling her full tale unless the three other accusers join her.”Ms. Kraushaar has decided not to hold a press conference unless and until the other women come forward and wish to participate,” her lawyer Joel Bennett said in a statement released Thursday. Two of the four women have not responded to Kraushaar’s outreach. While the former National Restaurant Association employee thanked Sharon Bialek for coming forward with her story, Kraushaar “believes it would be more meaningful to have all four women present and participating,” Bennett said.Neither Kraushaar nor Bennett will be making any more statements unless a joint press conference is held.Earlier in the day, Bennett had said Cain would be up to his chin in lies if Kraushaar went public.
