So the date wasn’t a coincidence – W.H. furious over speech delay

It seemed like a trivial matter: On Wednesday, House Republicans forced the president to delay his speech to a joint session of Congress by one day.

Who cares? The White House cares. Very much.

“It is a big deal that the House said ‘no’ to the president from our end,” a White House source with intimate knowledge of what took place between the House and the president told me Thursday. “This confirms what we all know: They will do anything in the House to muck us up.”

On Wednesday, the White House staff did not know exactly what President Barack Obama was going to say in his major jobs speech, but it knew exactly where and when he was going to say it.

The location would be before a joint session of Congress in the august marble-clad chamber of the House of Representatives. And the speech would be next Wednesday night, when the House returned from vacation, and there would be maximum TV viewership.

  1. I think obummer gave in so easily, because he knew no one will watch anyway!  All this talk is just to make him and his admin. “feel better” about themselves…what a bunch of immature, brats!

  2. Obama won this round. He didn’t want to precede the debates. The differing views would have been the trial balloon for the frontrunners and they would have used this to hammer him. Now, each candidate must explore the provisions of the plan on his own and at his own peril. Well played hand right into an open wound, their contempt of his presidency. Nevertheless, he hasn’t been much of a president and the field of candidates is nothing to throw a fiesta over. People seem to like Perry who’ll cut minimum wage and then see to it that you get it, plus he’s against gay marriage, that keeps me up all night thinking any minute a gay marriage is gonna crawl thru my window, so you’ll all have nice little, very little, jobs and free of the dreaded gay marriage. Or Bachmann, won’t need any gay marriages because her husband’s clinic will cure everyone of them. Maybe Palin can make it and give us all forty acres and a moose up in Alaska. Hell, Texas is just about a desert, why not go all eighteenth century and homestead. Or maybe Romney can look into his hat and tell us what Jesus is saying?  Little Ron Paul sounds less crazy all the time or am I just getting used to him? Get your sunglasses, our future is gonna shine!

  3. Wait a minute. Didn’t POTUS state that AFTER his vaca, he would have a new jobs plan? Wasn’t that TWO WEEKS AGO???? And he just went to Camp David until Tuesday next week? Then he sends an electronic message to his followers bashing the Congress for a one day postonement of his “jobs speech”, essentially saying Congress has failed to care about the economy? How much more balderdash can we put up with?

  4. The Republicans should have let him talk, then held the debates thirty minutes later. They may have been outfoxed on this one, let’s face it, if the president wanted to go first, he’d have gone Tuesday.

  5. So the WH did not think that the choice of dates was a direct attack on the Right? well we the people know better.. he chose the time and date, and he had to bear the consequences. He even had to back down on the time on the final choice of dates because of the football.. What an idiot this man is.

  6. “This confirms what we all know: They will do anything in the House to muck us up.”

A petulant, whining bleat from an “administration” that defines “compromise” as expecting the other guy unquestioningly bend over, hold his ankles and smile.

Obama got told to stuff it;  tough. It’s about time and it’s only the start of the pay-back for all the crap he’s shoved down the throats of the American people over the last three years.

November 2012 can’t come soon enough.
