Obama adds new position to crush negative coverage online

In anticipation of a brutal 2012 re-election bid, Barack Obama has added a new position to the White House staff. Jesse Lee is now charged with crushing negative coverage of Obama online. His title is ‘Director of Progressive Media and Online Response.’

With virtually no opposition or challenge to the President offered by the mainstream media, the Obama machine has set its sights on the Internet, where there are significant demands of accountability from this Administration. If Obama can successfully smash such responsible journalism, then he will have the entirety of the news coverage in his hip pocket.

According to a story at FishbowlNY, a division of Media Bistro,

If you’re going to post something online about Obama that isn’t true, Lee is going to be the one to handle you. Considering that Lee’s first tweet about his new position included a picture of The Terminator, we suggest you watch what you say OR BE DESTROYED.

Okay that was a little dramatic, but you get the idea.

The Twitter post to which the article refers uses a picture of the Terminator to describe Lee’s approach. That tweet can be viewed here.

Actually, Jesse Lee’s new title is Director of Progressive Media & Online Response in the White House Communication Department, working under Communications Director Dan Pfeiffer, according to the HuffPo..

Here’s how Sam Stein, a self-described personal friend, defines Lee’s new job in the White House:

“The post is a new one for this White House. Rapid response has been the purview of the Democratic National Committee (and will continue to be). Lee’s hire, however, suggests that a portion of it will now be handled from within the administration. It also signals that the White House will be adopting a more aggressive engagement in the online world in the months ahead.”
