The Associated Press to Boycott South Carolina GOP Debate

Media Credit: Gerry Pate Spartanburg Herald Journal

The Associated Press boycott of the Greenville SCGOP Fox News Debate is totally Bogus. Everyone has the same restrictions. A photo spray is allowed by credentialed media before the event and a pool photographer provides photos to outlets for use following. Bottom line, if the AP wants to play exceptionalism and boycott a news event we are happy to fill in the gap.  What is  most comical is  the Associated Press itself has extreme restrictions on use of it’s content and actively has filed suit against small sites using  limited excepts that that link to AP content. We think the Associated Press is suffering from a rare brand of Hypocrisy found only within it’s own executive staff.

From the Associated Press:

These are restrictions that violate basic demands of newsgathering and differ from other debates where more access was granted. Accordingly, the AP will not staff the event in any format nor will the AP disseminate any pool photos taken by another outlet. This is consistent with longstanding policy exercised in coverage of many events.Should access conditions change, the AP will reassess this decision and expedite a new coverage advisory if warranted.

As we stated, there were photographers allowed in the Venue for a photo Spray and prior to the event.  Then photographers had full access to the candidates in the spin Room following.

This from Fox News outlining the hypocrisy of using non- Associated Press pool photos and interpolating its own guidelines by using staged Photographs of President Obama

  2. [...] Politisite  pointed out that the Associated Press was a bit hypocritical for using reenacted photos of President Obama’s Speeches when their own policy stated to not do so.  We had correlated it with the inconsistency  the Associated Press showed by not sending a still photographer to the Greenville, South Carolina Debate because they were not granted access to the Debate venue to take live pictures during the actual debate.   You see they didn’t want to use a pool photographer and were not going to take staged photos of the Republican candidates as it was against their Policy.
